Dr. Levine has more than 20 years of experience in research, health and nutrition communications, and strategic planning. At AED, she directs research to provide information for creating, monitoring, and evaluating communication interventions for issues ranging from obesity to immunization. Dr. Levine oversees formative and outcome health communications research, authors backgrounders and issue summaries, and contributes to peer-reviewed publications and presentations at workshops, seminars, and conferences. Before joining AED, Dr. Levine studied and worked in several regions of the United States, Canada, and Latin America. In the United States, she served on the faculty in Boston University’s Graduate Nutrition Program; worked in research and evaluation at Prospect Associates (now the American Institutes for Research), based in Silver Spring, Maryland; and was a senior associate at N. Chapman Associates, a nutrition policy and health communication consulting firm in Washington, DC. Her work in Central America included research and evaluation for projects in HIV, nutrition, and maternal and child health. Her doctorate studies in marketing and consumer behavior research with a specialization in health policy from George Washington University provided a solid foundation for developing meaningful indicators of health communication. Dr. Levine also earned a master’s degree in nutrition with a specialization in health communication from Boston University. She is a registered dietitian and member of the American Dietetic Association. Dr. Levine has authored several publications for professionals and consumers in books, magazines, and national newspapers and has made numerous presentations in English and Spanish.
