Aparna currently provides technical support to Immunization Coalitions Technical Assistance Network and other immunization communication projects for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. She has experience working on a range of public health issues, including intimate partner violence, maternal and child health, obesity, and environmental health. In addition to a strong background in project management, Aparna brings expertise in community development, cultural competency, behavior change communication, research and evaluation, and training.
Her work has been in partnership with diverse communities and supported by funding from numerous federal agencies and foundations, including the U.S. Agency for International Development, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Health Resources Services Administration, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid, Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, and the Kellogg Foundation.
Prior to joining CHC in 2007, Aparna was working with the University of Michigan School of Social Work. She most recently managed a CDC-funded pilot project to design, implement, and evaluate a model combining social marketing and participatory approaches for intimate partner violence prevention among immigrants in Southeast Michigan.
Aparna hold masters degrees in Anthropology and Social Work from University of Michigan and a bachelor’s degree in International Affairs and Economics from George Washington University.
