Ms. Rourk works primarily on the NIH We Can! childhood overweight prevention project where she conducts national outreach to communities, coordinates regional events and develops technical support strategies for communities participating in the program.
Prior to her position at CHC, Ms. Rourk served as a Senior Program Associate for AED’s Center on AIDS & Community Health where she contributed to domestic, federally-funded HIV prevention and evaluation programs, including the CDC Diffusion of Effective Behavioral Interventions project and evaluation of training and technical assistance to RWCA grantees provided by the National Quality Center of the New York State Department of Health AIDS Institute.
Before joining AED, Ms. Rourk worked at the Center for Immigrant Health at New York University School of Medicine, as a Research Associate, Project Coordinator, and Health Outreach Worker. She worked on several projects related to increasing access to adequate and appropriate health care and prevention services for immigrant populations in New York City. She has also served as a Senior Research Interviewer at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health on a qualitative study focusing on parenting in low-income Latino communities.
Ms. Rourk has completed graduate coursework at the New York University School of Social Work. She holds a Bachelors interdisciplinary degree in Community Development and Honors Citations from the University of Maryland. Ms. Rourk speaks Spanish and has substantial experience in the field of public health with Spanish-speaking populations. |
