Shea has ten years of experience in the communications and marketing fields, with expertise in the strategic development of messages and materials and a focus on Web-based products. He currently manages the multimedia product development for NIH’s We Can! program, as well as strategic planning for other public awareness campaigns. His Web expertise includes information architecture, user-focused design, usability testing, and Section 508 compliance requirements. In addition to his effort with We Can!, Mr. Van Horn provided oversight for the design and implementation of CDC’s worksite obesity prevention interactive Web site. This effort included developing personas for formative research testing, building a compatible navigation system to meet CDC design requirements, and overseeing content development for a worksite product. Mr. Van Horn also provides communications support for the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases’ (NIAID) national education initiative for HIV vaccine clinical trials.
Mr. Van Horn earned a master’s degree from American University, in health promotion management, with a focus on the effectiveness of online health communications. He has a Bachelor of Arts degree in theater from the University of Washington, in Seattle, Washington. |
